Gutters in Maryville, Alcoa & Blount County

Hillside lots, hardwood ridges and red clay. In Blount County, where the water goes is as important as the gutter itself.

We serve Maryville, Alcoa and the rest of Blount County, including Rockford, Friendsville, Louisville, Eagleton Village, Greenback, Walland and Townsend.

Slopes and red clay

A lot of Maryville is built on rolling hills, and the farther you get toward the foothills — out Montvale Road, Sevierville Road or toward Walland — the steeper the lots get. Water coming off the roof wants to run downhill, and if the uphill side of the house collects it, it goes straight into the crawl space.

Blount County clay makes it worse. It doesn't soak up a storm; it washes out. The trench under a downspout and the bare patch in the mulch bed are the giveaways. On many Blount County jobs, the most valuable part is the drainage: larger downspouts and buried lines that carry water to the downhill side of the lot.

Leaf fall off the ridges

Neighborhoods backing onto wooded ridges get a heavy oak, hickory and maple load every fall, and the leaves keep coming for weeks. Perforated aluminum or micro-mesh guards make sense here. Closer to the mountains, add pine needles to the list, which calls for micro-mesh.

Alcoa and the older parts of Maryville

The older housing around downtown Maryville, near Maryville College, and in Alcoa's established neighborhoods has a lot of original sectional and steel gutters now well past their life. Seamless replacement and fascia repair behind failed corners are common jobs.

Townsend and Walland cabins

Out toward the park, many homes are cabins and rentals with steep metal roofs and heavy tree cover. They need different gutters than a subdivision home: 6-inch, heavier aluminum, tighter hanger spacing and fine mesh guards. Our cabin gutter guide covers it.

Common questions

Do you serve Townsend and Walland?

Yes, including cabins and rental properties. Scheduling around guest turnover is no problem.

My crawl space gets wet after storms. Can gutters help?

Often, yes. Most crawl space water in Blount County after rain comes from roof runoff landing next to the foundation. Rerouting downspouts is usually the first thing to fix.
